Children (attract) are attracted // present simple passive voice, испытывают влечение к to all kinds of animals. One of them, however, is extremely popular with both kids and adults. The creature is the giant panda. Its appeal is so universal, that it (be) has been // present perfect, является (действие началось в прошлом и длится до сих пор) the emblem of the World Wildlife Fund since 1961. There are many reasons behind the panda’s appeal, some of which (connect) are connected/have been connected // present simple passive voice / present perfect passive voice, связаны (как постоянный факт или как уже установленный факт) to its attractive appearance, habits and lifestyle. The panda (look) looks // present simple, выглядит (констатация факта) like a super teddy-bear, and its size is a plus as large animals (perceive) are perceived // present simple passive voice, воспринимаются more positively than small ones. Even if you (try) try/tried // present simple / past simple, попытаешься / попытался (try используется для реального условия — First Conditional, tried — для нереального — Second Conditional), you (not /improve) will not improve/wouldn’t improve // future simple / second conditional, не улучшишь / не улучшил бы its eye-catching white and black coat with its powerful colour contrast. People also like the way pandas behave, sometimes in an amazingly human like way. When they (present) are presented // present simple passive voice, предлагают / получают with a new toy, pandas (invent) invent/will invent // present simple / future simple, придумывают / придумают many tricks playing for hours on end. Let us hope that this delightful creature (win) will win // future simple, выиграет the race for survival. The world would be so much poorer without its amazing giant panda!
Упр 2
I (write) am writing // present continuous, пишу сейчас to you to complain about some fashion boots (buy) bought // past simple, купленные в прошлый четверг from your Westborough branch last Wednesday. When I (put) put // past simple, надел (краткое действие) them on for the first time at the weekend, it (rain) was raining // past continuous, шел (дождь) (фоновое действие) and after a few minutes the boots (let) let // past simple, пропустили (краткое действие) the water in. The next day I took the boots to your shop and asked the assistant who (sell) had sold/sold // past perfect / past simple, продал them to me to replace the boots. But she said the boots (not / replace) would not be replaced // future-in-the-past passive voice, не будут заменены (косвенная речь) because they (wear /already) had already been worn // past perfect passive voice, уже были поношены (предшествование в прошлом). But how could I have seen the defect without wearing them? Besides, I can’t believe the boots (make) are made/have been made // present simple passive voice / present perfect passive voice, сделаны (как общий факт / как результат) to wear in dry weather only! I (be) would be // second conditional, был бы grateful to you if you (send) sent // second conditional, выслали бы me a replacement pair that will not let water in.
